mercury’s process was shaped by contradiction. early in their career mercury worked as a personal assistant to prominent artists & art institutions. at night they created illicit art under multiple pseudonyms. this juxtaposition of realities sparked their interest in the concepts of ownership and authorship. to mercury the art scene was about access; you either payed for it or you took it.

mercury’s current practice delves into the many identities they hold. often using performance & installation to explore etymological boundaries in western art- while also examining their caribbean & queer identity thru a futurist lens. mercury’s process ranges from improvisational to investigative, and often employs tactics of appropriation and vandalism to do so. each piece is a situation, unique in approach and execution.
